We are celebrating Teacher Appreciation week from May 12 through May 16! Let’s show our AMAZING CHES teacher how much we love them!
Check out the schedule below to get more information about events, donations, and volunteering!
Monday 5/12 “Monday Suprises”
Use the cardstock that will be coming home on Friday with your child to make a handmade card, picture, or note to any teacher or staff member at CHES. Extra cardstock is available at the front office
Handmade gifts can be brought to school starting on Monday and any time throughout the week
All teachers/staff will receive a surprise in their mailbox along with info about the week’s events
Tuesday 5/13 “Breakfast of Champions”
Always a favorite for CHES teachers and staff, let’s load them up with delicious breakfast goodies!
SIGN UP to contribute food or drinks, and/or help with setup/cleanup
Wednesday 5/14 “Thanks for Helping Us Grow!”
All teachers and staff will be able to go to the main office to choose a plant for themselves!
Thursday 5/15 “Treat Day"!”
The Great Start Coffee Cart will be parked outside of CHES and all teachers/staff will get a FREE drink of their choice!
Friday 5/16 “Thanks a BRUNCH”
Ending the week with a delicious brunch/lunch for our fabulous CHES teachers and staff!

May 2 - CHES Variety Show
Join us this Friday, May 2 at 5:30 in the LACS Gymnasium for the annual CHES Variety Show!
Creative and courageous students from every classroom at CHES (pre-K through 5th!) will share their talents, interests, and skills with us in two Acts!
Act 1 begins at 5:30pm and features performances from our Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade students.
After an intermission, Act 2 will begin at approximately 6:45pm, featuring our 4th and 5th graders.
This event is FREE and open to the entire CHES community! Come cheer on your classmates and friends!
Concessions and flowers will be available for purchase (cash or scan a QR code). Everything will be $1, and donations are accepted! All proceeds go to the CHES Snack Cabinet - keeping it stocked and available to teachers and classrooms!
5K Raffle Tickets will be available for advance purchase at the Variety Show! On Friday only, you can buy 10 tickets and get an 11th free! More than $1,400 worth of prizes will be given out. Check out these descriptions and get excited!
Register for CHES 5K + Fun Run!
Registration is now open for the Cayuga Heights Elementary School (CHES) 5K and Fun Run, presented by the CHES PTA and Ithaca Psychological Testing in partnership with Cayuga Dermatology!
Sunday, May 4, 2025 at Cayuga Heights Elementary School
There are two courses. Both are open to all:
The Fun Run, a one-mile run specially designed for children in grades K through 3, begins at 9:00 a.m
The 5K begins at 9:30 a.m. This is a timed, USA Track and Field (USATF) sanctioned event; see the race course here.
This fun community event is open to everyone who would like to race through the beautiful streets of Cayuga Heights on a spring day. Funds raised will support the CHES PTA and the many PTA sponsored programs that are vital to the functioning of the school. Spring Enrichment Registration is Open!
Registration for our spring enrichment program is now open! You have from February 14 until February 28 to indicate in which class(es) you would like to enroll your child. For more information, including class schedules, cost, and a link to the registration form, visit our Enrichment page.
Oct 10 - FREE CHES Family Night @ Sciencenter!
FREE event for all CHES students & families!
When: Thursday, October 10 | 6:00-7:30 pm
Where: Sciencenter | 601 1st Street, Ithaca NY
What: Open Museum! Bring the whole family! :)
Dinner will be provided by the CHES PTA.
Every family that attends will receive a “Family Come-back Pass” to the Sciencenter. This pass gives your household free admission to the Sciencenter the next time you come back!
All Family Science Night attendees are automatically entered into a drawing for a free year-long membership to the Sciencenter!
